So Today was the big day!
We had our appointment at 8:45 to get my blood drawn. Everyone in the office kept asking if I
cheated… of course I did! The Dr. talked to us a little bit and was really
excited. He said my number should be
over 50 and 200 would be a great number.
He also warned us that we were a day early so it might be a little
low. I asked him if some cramping is
normal and he asked if it was more like a bloated feeling and I told him it was
more like cramps. He said that as long
as I’m not hunched over, it should be
okay.
Results came in a
little after 1 PM… 302 and a day early!
Woo Hoo!!!
We invited
parents over for pizza and said to discuss the big day the following day…. No
one knew we went in a day early. Of
course our moms knew something was up… but, they were all excited! We sent an email off to everyone afterwards…
Here it is:
Hi Everyone,
After 2 very long weeks, we got the news we have been waiting for.... WE ARE PREGNANT!!! This has been such an emotional and exhausting journey, but it was worth every ounce of pain and every tear shed! We are still in a very critical time period where we could result in a chemical pregnancy/ectopic or miscarriage. The next 5 weeks are crucial to the developing of the fetus or fetuses!:) Once we hear the heartbeat, we'll feel so much better.
We were supposed to go in tomorrow, but got in a day early. I have felt pregnant for days and just knew I was! My doctor said he wanted the beta/hcg level to be at least 50 and 200 would be great. He warned me that since we were in a day early, it might be lower. My beta came in at 302 even though it was a day early! We go back Friday to make sure my level doubled. If it did, we should be clear of a chemical pregnancy. We just have to pray everything else goes well. My doctor said the ultrasound will be about a week after the 2nd beta (blood draw).
We wanted to share the good news with family, but please don't share this with anyone who is not listed on this email. We really want to wait until we know we are safe. We obviously won't wait 12 weeks because people will start questioning, but we need a few more weeks to ensure it's safe. Once we hear a heartbeat, we will feel more comfortable announcing it to the world:) Thank you for respecting this decision.
Baby Smarik will arrive February 2013:)
This was right after the embryo transfer:)
